Flash Fiction for the Cocktail Hour is a place where I experiment with flash (very short) fiction.
I coined the term Flash Fiction for the Cocktail Hour because at the end of the day I need to turn my brain off from the pressure of my job in high tech Competitive Intelligence. There’s not always time to dive into a book or even a short story. But a 3-minute trip into another person’s mind, another life and another set of circumstances, can put every into perspective. Flash Fiction is a quick hit to the senses, to soothe the brain at the end of the day. It might even be an alternative to a martini or a shot of scotch.
Flash fiction is extremely short fiction. The generally-accepted length of a flash fiction piece is between one and two pages. Typically, a short-short story is about two and five pages, and a traditional short story is approximately five to fifteen pages, occasionally more.

I share those feelings. My book is succession 13 flash fictions. Thanks for coining the name.

In real life, we compress time . From let’s say 10 hours (work) to 5 minutes sometimes. The 5 minutes is what is left, remembered, experienced, and distilled through writing
I love what you wrote about compressing time!
btw, I am planning to buy your book, just haven’t had time to go through the logistics.
